TEXTILE FACTORY
Since I travel to India frequently and have been there many times over the last 12 years, I have had the opportunity to visit mainly textile workshops, small business manufactories, handmade organic work, and even a factory for a multinational company. Usually, in Europe, people have the impression that working in a factory in India is akin to the Middle Ages, with poor conditions, and that India is a poor country with impoverished people and workers. When I try to present the opposite perspective, I often get confused looks and am asked if I am mixing it up with China.
The textile factory I visited is currently completing an order for a winter coat collection for a chain of stores in the UK and France. The workers are operating at full capacity, and the bundles are being loaded onto trucks according to plan.
